Sydney Tours - Stereotypical Private Tours

Just after Christmas, we were contacted by the Sydney Visitor Centre, who had 2 people interested in doing two classic Sydney tours - the Hunter Valley and the Blue Mountains, but this couple wanted these Sydney tours all to themselves!!  This is understandable as being grouped together with many people on a large bus does come with its down sides. They had found other operators who offered private tours but those tours included the full red carpet treatment - champagne, strawberries etc. etc.  As our private tours are less luxurious and without the bells and whistles, then we seemed a perfect match for this couple.  They were visiting Sydney from Switzerland and wanted their own tour guide for the day, with flexibility in the itinerary and be able to have a low key lunch to maximise time at their destination.  This was right up our street and we were thrilled to be able to give them exactly what they wanted.

Sydney Tours Horse Riding

Saturday's tour to the Blue Mountains was a bit different to usual, but it was the perfect job for us and was right up our street!  We were contacted by the Manly Novotel and asked if we could run a private Sydney tour for 6 people up to the Blue Mountains with horse riding being one of the main activities.  We jumped at this job and made every effort to accommodate the group and their interests.  Luckily, we had a beautiful day for it and managed to include some sightseeing at Katoomba, as well as lunch there, before heading out towards Jenolan Caves for their two hour horse ride.  The scenery up there is spectacular with amazing rolling hills and beautiful vistas across miles of farmland.  It was the perfect area for horse riding and the group loved it.  It was also a great way to get out of the City, get some lovely fresh air and admire some of Australia's classic countryside.  This was the ideal tour which shows our flexibility and unique point of difference, which is that we always try to meet the requests of the customer and tailor a day around what interests them.

Sydney Tours Home and Away 27th Nov 2012

This time a couple from the sunny north of England (Hull) joined us for a Sydney Tour to Palm Beach where they got much more than they bargained for.  After a grey start to the day, not only did the sun come out but we were at Palm Beach at exactly the right time to see them doing some Home and Away filming AND for the very generous photo session that the cast members were happy to do with the on looking spectators.  Its always interesting to see them film and watch them organise equipment, lighting, props etc but especially interesting to see the very laid back nature of filming.  The crew are very happy for people to watch from the sidelines, take photos an then if you're lucky enough (like we were) you can have your photo taken with the actors.  A great trip all round and I think they thoroughly enjoyed it.  Lots of gloating I am sure will take place when Wendy shows her photos to her daughters who are back in Blighty, wishing they were at Palm Beach, Sydney, Australia!

Sydney Tours Home and Away trip 22nd Nov 2012

On Thu we took 4 people from Rozelle up to Palm Beach and for this group it was their last full day in Sydney before flying back to Ireland.  Thei trip had consisted of being in Jervis Bay for a wedding and then onto Airlie Beach and Canberra - quite a mix!  Everyone in the group was from Ireland and were visiting a family member here who had moved out to Oz.  The boys got left behind on this trip and the girls, who were die-had Home and Away fans had all the fun.  Yes, they loved Palm Beach....of course but I have never heard so many WOWS from the back of the bus as we drove around the headlands and saw the views and the real estate that are dotted out along the Northern Beaches.  They seemed to have a great time, but I think the biggest smile of the day came when I returned 20 mins after dropping them off to hand over their camera which they had left in the bus!!!!!!

Sydney Tours Home and Away Tour 17th Nov 2012

Saturday morning saw us take a couple from Ireland to Palm Beach. They were couple were on their honeymoon and were enjoying 6 weeks travelling around the globe and just couldn't come to Sydney without doing a Sydney tour to Palm Beach - and why not?  Sadly, no Home and Away filming on the day, but they had a very pleasant time exploring the beach and the area around Alf's bait shop and the pier etc.  We also of course covered the scenic drive around to Whale Beach where they were suitably impressed the multi-million dollar homes and multi-million dollar views.  We dropped in at Long Reef where we saw some surf boat racing and a few remarks were made about the scantily clad men who participate in this crazy sport!  A lovely morning doing some sightseeing and just one of many places visited for a couple who were seeing as much as they could on their World trip.

A lovely day out with a couple from Tasmania and also Kate who is now a new edition to the Flamin' Galah team.  We picked-up in the City and made our way all the way into Ku-ring Gai Chase National Park and particularly West Head for some magnificent views across to Palm Beach and the Central Coast.  At the lookout we were greeted by a Goanna who was very happy to basking in the sun.  We then enjoyed a beautiful one hour bush down to a secluded beach, where we were thrilled to an echidna en-route as well as some lovely wild flowers and gorgeous views.  At the beach, the three of them got the ferry to Palm Beach where they had sumptuous fish and chips overlooking the bay.  This was then followed with sightseeing down the Northern Beaches with the icing on the cake being the amazing view from North Head in Manly and also a bonus view from the lookout on the Fairfax Track.  A very enjoyable day out with great company and some unexpected wildlife.  Lots of fun!

Sydney Tours Home and Away 13th Nov 2012

So this was the Home and Away trip to beat all Home and Away trips!  Not only were they filming up there but as you can see by the picture we got to see Alf Stewart!!!  What could be better?  Some very happy customers as you can imagine to get so much from just a quick trip Palm Beach.  Some times you are just in the right place at the right time and we nailed it on Tuesday.  Of course, we also got the usual dosage of fantastic views, along with insanely expensive houses in unbelievable locations but, certainly the highlight was seeing Alf and watching him do his scene which we saw over and over again.  Weirdly it never gets boring watching the same thing, its just fascinating watching them film Home and Away and learn how they do it.  Its also great for any visitor to Palm Beach to leave being able to now visualise the area and all the beauty around it.

Sydney Tours Home and Away 6 Nov 2012

On Melbourne Cup day, instead of sitting in the pub watching the race or chucking money at the TAB, this group of 13 happy holiday makers took a trip up to Palm Beach to see where they film Home and Away and also do lots of sightseeing down the Northern Beaches.  They were a group from Tasmania and were enjoying a few days in Sydney before heading back home.  There were a few die hard Home and Away fans in the group who enjoyed the sights and sounds of Palm Beach but for those who didn't care much for Home and Away, they were not left short changed thanks to some of the amazing views and vistas around every corner. This pic was taken just above Bilgola Beach and is a reminder that there is so much more to this tour than just a visit to see Home and Away.
